Father's Day was a hot one in Yakima on Sunday. 94 degrees at kickoff and it just got more challenging as the game went on. The Lady Force forgot to switch on at the first kick of the ball and gave up a goal in the first minute.
After the first goal, the Force had a couple of nice attacks through hard work by Palau, Wilkins, Hoidal and Hudson, but were unable to break through. The game would get even more difficult for an already depleted roster when defender K-Lee Haynes, already playing through a broken hand and bruised eye socket, suffered a knee injury through 3 very physical challenges. The result left Haynes on the touchline unable to bear her own weight and the Lady Force playing with 10 for the remainder of the game.
At the half the girls renewed their efforts down 2-0 to try and get a goal despite the disadvantage on the field. There were some really good chances created, including a shot off the upper corner of the framework, but in the end they just couldn't get the finish they needed.
Yakima managed 4 goals in the second half and the final ended up 6-0. Despite the frustrating result, the Force Ladies still have 3 games to play in the regular season and still control their own destiny on making the playoffs.

The ladies will now turn their attention to their final 2 home games this weekend. Saturday a matchup with last year's league runner up Washington Timbers at 1pm, followed by the rescheduled match from May 4th with BlackHills FC on Sunday at 3pm. A good weekend could find the Force Ladies sitting comfortably in the table going into their final match away to Twin City union the following weekend.
