Force Knock Off the Last Three EPLWA Titans

Force Knock Off the Last Three EPLWA Titans

The Force Men suffered a tough loss in their home opener to PAC NW, a loss that Head Coach Brandon Henry said, "I don't think I've ever been on the wrong side of a scoreline that lopsided before".  Since that loss, the Force men have returned to the form they displayed in the preseason that was so promising.

The Force turned things around in a hurry with an impressive away win over the 2017 EPLWA Champions, the Seattle Stars.  A scoreline that finished 3-0 and probably could have been more considering young de la Luz earned a penalty that was saved in the first half.  Marcus Martin got his first shutout on the season in goal.

Then it was double header weekend.  A tough weekend that would see the Force face 2018 Champs, Washington Premier FC on Saturday at home, and then have to drive to Vancouver to face the 2016 Champion Victory FC on the road.

The Saturday Match against cross-bridge rival WPFC was a close hard fought match.  The Force took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break after Jonny Cano hit a free kick off the crossbar that Jackson Moore pounced on in the box.  Early in the second half, Cano was at it again, beating defenders down the left side before slashing a ball back into the box that Mitchell Balmer redirected into the net.  The Force would give up a goal on a penalty but would hold on for the last half hour for the win.

With his two assists, Jonny Cano was named White Claw Hard Seltzer Man of the Match.

Day two and the long drive to Vancouver and the effort put out the day before, could have led to a huge let down on the road...could have.  Enter Gil de la Luz.  Not only did Gil score in the 3rd minute on a nice pass from Rainier Schlekewey, but for his celebration he lit a fire in the corner of the field where the rest of the Force team joined him.  That fire seemed to ignite the entire team as they would score 3 more goals over the next 12 minutes to make it 4-0, and then add another in the 34th to make it 5.  Vancouver would get 2 goals back before the half but that's as close as they got.  The Force did score in the second half but had it called back.

With 2 goals and an assist on the day, Gil de la Luz earned the White Claw Hard Seltzer Man of the Match.

The Force will now travel to Starfire Sports in an attempt to avenge their only defeat on the season.  They will take on PAC NW on June 1st at 7:30pm in the stadium at Starfire.
